The Stone Carving Studio with Kate Semple

Celebration of Stone Exhibition in Bradford on Avon in June

After months of thought and preparation the time arrived for the Celebration of Stone exhibition at the beautiful West Barn in Bradford on Avon. It sits next to the magnificent Tythe Barn in a park next to the river, a delightful spot in the heart of the Bath stone quarrying area, so very apt for us to be holding a stone carving exhibition there.

People dropped off their work to be displayed during the day while a group of us sorted out the display and got it all looking good. We set up the refreshments outside for the private view on Friday evening, the weather was beautiful, swarms of people came and there was a lovely relaxed party mood.

Over the next 2 days we set up a gazebo outside and invited people to have a go once they had seen the exhibition. There was always a crowd inside and a queue for the “have a go” the whole weekend. We were also running the event as a fundraiser for Dorothy House Hospice, just a couple of miles away. With a GoFundMe page plus donations on the day we raised in the region of £1700, a sum we were all thrilled with.

Everybody thoroughly enjoyed taking part, it really felt like a great success, definitely worth all the hard work!
